Mike, Jenn and Mom are going to attempt to read 52 books each in 2012. If we only achieve 12 that is likley more than we would have had we not tried to read any.

Mom - Condoleeza Rice: An American Life
By Elisabeth Bumiller
Biography of Condoleeza from the 1980s to 2006 including Sept 11, 2011
This gives you a really good insight into one of the most divisive figures in American history. As a young girl growing up in a very segregated American South she witnessed the death of her friend at the age of 8 when a church was bombed by Ku Klux Clan. She was denied a changing room to try on a dress her mother wanted to buy her because she was black. While this history is part of her life she has not let it define who she is.
She actually started her adult career as a Democrat but became a Republican in her mid twenties.
She followed and supported Bush I would argue almost blindly. She had an opportunity to challenge him on policy but most often chose not to.
